WELLINGTON -- New Zealand reported two cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, said the Ministry of Health in a statement.

Of Saturday's cases, one was an imported case detected in a managed isolation facility and the other was a historical case detected during contact tracing. Meanwhile, there was no new case of COVID-19 in the community, said the ministry.

LOS ANGELES -- California's top health official said Friday that the latest data of COVID-19 in the state was worrisome, since it could be an early sign showing a "second wave" of the virus is coming.

California's Director of Health and Human Services Mark Ghaly updated the pandemic situation in the golden state at an online video briefing on Friday evening, saying 3,400 new cases were reported in the previous 24 hours, which marks a slight uptick from recent lows.

CAIRO -- Egypt reported late on Friday 112 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total infections in the country to 102,625, said the Health Ministry.

In a statement, the ministry's spokesman Khaled Megahed said 18 patients died from the novel coronavirus in the past 234 hours, taking the death toll to 5,853.

QINGDAO -- A total of 12,492 people working at the Qingdao Port had been tested for nucleic acid as of Friday after two stevedores were reported as asymptomatic COVID-19 cases on Thursday.

All test results were negative and testing for the remaining personnel is underway, according to the port in east China's Shandong Province Saturday. Around 20,000 people work in the port area.

GABORONE -- Botswana has reverted to stringent travel restrictions across the zonal boundaries as positive COVID-19 cases are on the rise.

Those who travel within the country ahead of the Independence Day holiday slated for next week will need to apply for permits, which will be issued at the discretion of the COVID-19 Presidential Task Force, Malaki Tshipayagae, director of Health Services, said on Friday.
