SYDNEY, Australia - Stocks in Asia were broadly stronger on Monday, although the Australian market wa virtually unchanged.
The Nikkei 225 added 65.36 points or 0.31% to 21,182.58.
In China, the Shanghai Composite rose 39.38 points or 1.38% to 2,892.38.
The Australian All Ordinaries meantime closed 0.80 of a single point or 0.01% lower at 6,544.80.
The U.S. dollar was little changed although it gained a few basis points here and there.
Around the Sydney close on Monday, the euro was quoted at 1.1196.
The British pound was changing hands at 1.2720.
The Japanese yen was quoted at 109.57, while the Swiss franc was bid at 1.0050.
The Canadian dollar was unchanged at 1.34541. The Australian dollar too was comatose at 0.6925.
The New Zealand dollar finished around 0.6547.
